PRE-SCHOOL AND KINDER-COLLEGE
(A year-round program for Children 2-1/2 — 5 years of age)

 

Pre-School Program (2-1/2 — 4)
The Pre-School Program is for children ages 2-1/2 — 4 years (potty-trained). It is a developmental program based on beginning readiness skills which are age-appropriate, including letters, numbers, and motor skills.

 

Kinder-College Program (4 — 5)
Kinder-College is for children ages 4 and 5 who will enter Kindergarten in the fall. It is a developmental, age-appropriate program, designed to promote school readiness skills including reading and math, and motor skills.

What will my child gain from participating in PDCC programs?

•Children have an opportunity to play and socialize with their peers, guided by trained teachers, who can maximize the children’s growth experiences in a supportive atmosphere.

• Develop a lifelong sense of self-confidence.

• Learn how to resolve conflicts in a verbal manner, and how to approach other children in a positive way.

• Learn how to take turns, play, share, and gradually develop independence.
• Learn problem-solving skills through dramatic play, puzzles, different roles in the play house and grocery store, and other activities designed to help in concept formation.

• Challenged in a variety of activities such as art, music, physical activities, and unstructured play.

• Exposure to many pre-reading skills and encouraged to develop a love of books and language.

• Field trip experiences.
Answers to Most Frequently Asked Questions
• Our teacher to pupil ratio is a maximum of 1 teacher to 12 students. Many classes have less. We usually have 4 — 6 Pre-School classes and 6 — 7 Kinder-College classes.

• Our teachers have their ECE certificates, and several have additional units. All have passed their physical exams, fingerprint testing, and have their Red Cross certificates.

• Most of our teachers have been with us at least five years; several have been here more than ten years.

• Teachers help with lunch time, opening containers, etc. They also take children to the bathroom.

• Lunch lasts about 45 minutes. Nap time lasts about 90 minutes. (Suggestions for lunch available from our office.) We provide breakfast and p.m. snacks for Pre-School and Kinder-College children.
